About us

The Rome Independent Living Centre (Centro per l'Autonomia) is a local service conceived by the Paraplegics Association of Rome and Lazio (Associazione Paraplegici di Roma e del Lazio) and managed by the social cooperative Centro per l'Autonomia - Michele Iacontino (former "Emmei").

In agreement with Local Health Authority Asl Rm C since 1997, ILC is acknowledged by Regione Lazio (Local Law nr. 22 of 11-8-09) to act for rehabilitation of people with serious disability and to facilitate their autonomy and self-determination.

The Centre was established in order to offer services for independent living. It is inspired by the principles of freedom and equality, often denied to people with disability.

It works respecting the fundamental rights and dignity of every person and their families. The services work to encourage equal opportunities and non-discrimination towards persons with disability in every field of activity in daily life.

Our goal is to strengthen individual abilities allow every person to make independent choices, working towards efficacious social inclusion.
