Training for daily life
Our course of training for daily life activities consists in a period of
individual preparation for the person with disability; or, if not allowed by functional
limitations, we involve family members, other minders, or professional assistants.
The daily life activities we train for include:
- functional mobility
- personal hygiene
- kitchen work
- use of a wheelchair
- games
- dressing
- manual skills and abilities
- outdoor activities
Besides training, the protocol of our daily life course includes:
- an evaluation, to identify functional limitations, which, besides
setting out objective difficulties derivating from such limitations, also
brings out subjective and relations-centred issues;
- an identification of problem-solving strategies. Together with
the person with disability, we work towards finding solutions to the problems
identified by the evaluation.
Beside the occupational therapist, staff who may take part include: the
peer counsellor, the social worker, the psychologist.
