Purposes and principles

From the Constitution of the Italian Republic, article 3:

"All citizens are equal in dignity and before the law, without distinction of sex, race, birth, religion, political opinions, and personal and social conditions. The Republic has the duty to remove such obstacles of economic and social nature as place actual limits on the freedom and equality of citizens, restrict the full development of human persons and prevent the full participation of all workers in the political, economical and social organization of the Nation".
Following the Constitution, Rome ILC promise full respect for the fundamental principles of:

  • Equality meant as prohibition of any unjustified discrimination on grounds of sex, race, birth, language, religion and political opinions. The rules which concern the relationships of users and public services and access to public services must be the same for everyone;
  • Impartiality, as the behaviour of the Organization to any person must follow strict criteria of objectivity, fairness and justice;
  • Continuity, that is regular unbroken availability of public services;
  • Right of free choice, according to existing laws and regulations, among service providers, in particular those present in this territory;
  • Participation, meaning the right of advocacy and protection in matters of correct service provision, access to information, right to comment and criticize, to suggest, present aide-memoires and petitions, and generally express a view about the service received;
  • Efficiency, efficacy and suitability in the satisfaction of needs, and best practice in the use of available resources.

Purposes of Rome ILC

The goal of Rome ILC is to allow persons with disability to achieve the highest possible degree of autonomy, by supplying them with non-residential services, planning individual paths that include an analysis of psychological, familial, social and functional matters affecting persons with disability.
