The SU Additional Care project (regional law Dgr. 434/06) offers to persons currently hospitalized in Spinal Unit the opportunity to:
Employ computers and the Internet to keep in touch with their friends
and family, play music, watch movies or play.
Have outdoor times to strengthen their ability to move as autonomously
as possible, in harmony with the world outside the hospitals. Rediscover
the pleasure of spending free time with people they care for.
Favour and strengthen the bility of friends and relatives to offer the
right kind of support to hospitalized persons, especially in view of their
future outside the institution, allowing also the opportunity of temporary
housing support.
This project is experimental and is to end on June, 2007. The innovative services we are working on amount to a "psychological and environmental support" to be integrated with "basic assistance functions."
